Portfolio Studio
Salt Figure Studio
Rooms, structures, and the silence they hold.
Studio Note
"They treated our house like it already had a history worth respecting. Every decision felt considered, never decorative. We've lived here two years and still notice details we didn't see at first."
Practice
The capabilities read like a point of view
This should feel curated and authored, not like a feature grid copied from somewhere else.
01
Residential Architecture
Ground-up houses and major renovations. We work from site survey through construction administration, typically 14–24 months from first conversation to occupancy.
02
Interior Architecture
Spatial reconfiguration, material specification, and millwork design for existing structures. Scope ranges from a single room to full gut renovations.
03
Object & Furniture Design
Limited-edition furniture, lighting, and built-in elements developed for specific projects or produced in short runs through our fabrication partners.
04
Exhibition & Installation
Temporary spatial work for galleries, cultural institutions, and brand partners. We handle concept, construction documents, and installation oversight.
Approach
How the work gets shaped without over-explaining it
The best portfolio sites sound exacting and lived-in. They do not sound like an agency funnel.
01
Site reading
We visit the site or existing structure, photograph conditions, and prepare a brief observation document. No design begins before we understand the light, the grade, and the neighbors.
02
Scheme & material studies
Two to three spatial schemes presented as plan drawings and material sample boards. We work in physical models at 1:50 before any rendering is produced.
03
Documentation & construction
Full construction document sets issued for permit and bidding. We administer the build through regular site visits and contractor coordination until final walkthrough.
Testimonials
Praise that can sit in open space and still hold weight
The quotes are treated editorially, with room to breathe and enough contrast to feel intentional.
"They treated our house like it already had a history worth respecting. Every decision felt considered, never decorative. We've lived here two years and still notice details we didn't see at first."
"Salt Figure designed our gallery's reading room. The drawings arrived with material notes that read like captions—precise, quiet, and exactly right. The space has changed how visitors move through the building."
Engagement Modes
Collaboration offers framed like real working relationships
A portfolio-forward site should describe scopes of collaboration, not commodity tiers.

FAQ
Margin notes for the good-fit client
Keep the answers focused and editorial. One clear paragraph usually beats a soft sales answer.
Most of our work is in the Pacific Northwest, though we've completed commissions in Northern California and Western Montana. We're open to travel for the right project and scope.
Yes. We regularly collaborate with client-selected builders and can also recommend general contractors we've worked with on previous commissions.
Interior projects generally run 6–12 months from agreement to completion. New-build residential architecture typically spans 14–24 months, depending on permit timelines and site complexity.
We occasionally accept standalone furniture commissions, usually when the piece relates to materials or ideas we're already exploring. Reach out and we'll let you know if the timing works.
